Physical Therapists

Cheri J Grant, M.S., PT

Cheri received her masters in sports medicine from the University of Washington in 1976, went on to become the head women’s athletic trainer for the University of Southern California, then completed her physical therapy degree from Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.  Upon returning to Washington, she started the first physical therapy private practice in Gig Harbor in 1980.

Cheri specializes in spinal/pelvic girdle dysfunction utilizing Jones Institute strain/counterstrain (since 1992), muscle energy techniques, and is a Stott certified Pilates instructor.  Joint replacement and orthopedic dysfunction, headaches and vestibular dysfunction are other areas of specialty.

Cheri’s time is occupied as a Dawg fan in the fall, snowshoeing and skiing in the winter and she enjoys boating all year long with friends and family.

Stephanie Hanson, MPT

Stephanie received her masters degree in physical therapy from the University of Puget Sound in 2000.  In the last 16 years she has been practicing in outpatient physical therapy in Hawaii, Tacoma, and now Gig Harbor.

Stephanie’s specialty areas are spinal dysfunction, sports rehabilitation, and joint dysfunctions, using techniques including Kinesiotaping, muscle energy, and strain/counterstrain.  Stephanie has an extensive background in therapeutic exercise including core stabilization and specific joint strengthening.

She enjoys spending her time off with her husband and 2 sons, usually playing soccer, cycling, snowboarding or camping.

Paul Purdue, BS, PTA

Paul is a Physical Therapist Assistant who has been practicing locally for the last 18 years.  Paul has served in political roles within the Physical Therapy Association of Washington as well as the APTA as PTWA Caucus Rep and a PTA Caucus Delegate.

Paul’s specialty areas are general orthopedic injuries, knee and shoulder rehabilitation, sports medicine and neurological rehabilitation.

Paul enjoys working politically within the physical therapy community, traveling, soccer, football, fishing, skiing and spending time at the family cabin on Whidbey Island.

 

Support Staff

Lara Carter, Office Manager

Lara has been a valuable member of our team since 1997.  Lara is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound.  Before she managed the office, her background as our physical therapy aide, receptionist, scheduler, and bookkeeper, have allowed her to understand patient needs from multiple perspectives.  She is always happy to help you with any questions you might have regarding insurance or billing, or Husky football.   Lara and her husband have a 9 year old boy and an 6 year old girl that keep them very busy.

Sarah Brown, Front Office Assistant

Sarah is a graduate of Western Washington University.  Sarah answers the phone with a smile and is always happy to help you.  She is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to understanding insurance companies, billing, codes, and scheduling.  In her free time, she loves spending time outside with her dog Hudson.  She is also Reiki master, and would love to help you if you have any questions.

Carolyn Barbee, Physical Therapy Aide

Carolyn hails all the way from Virginia, where she got her degree from James Madison University.  Carolyn has a love of hiking in the great outdoors. In 2015, she hiked 1,500 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail solo across the length of California.  A native of Virginia, she is taking full advantage of all of the lovely hiking and scenery that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.  Carolyn plans on going to physical therapy school in the future.  With her experience in exercise science and her knowledge of gait analysis, Carolyn is an asset to the clinic.

Ashley Flateland, Physical Therapy Aide

 

Ashley is also a graduate of James Madison University in Virginia, where she played Division 1 soccer. She has played semi-professional soccer for teams including the LA Legends, Tampa bay Elite, Tampa Bay Hellenic and the San Francisco Nighthawks.

She also spent 39 months in Botswana when she was in the Peace Corps.  Ashley plans on getting her massage therapy license. She plans on using this license as she works her way thorough physical therapy school in the future. Ashley is an asset to the clinic.

Caffrey

Canine Liaison

Caffrey has been the canine liaison for the last 3 years.  She is in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  She loves greeting patients at the door, but loves it even more when they come bearing treats, and never fear, she knows who you are!  Caffrey can often be found running outside on the weekends. She loves to go on hikes and camping with her family.
